Press release 19.9.2014
To celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Central Park of Helsinki the Sports Department and Helsinki cyclists arrange a retro cycling tour this Saturday the 20th September.
The participants can have their everyday jogging cloths but it’s highly affordable to wear an old fashioned stylish costume and even to drive a vintage bike. The 20 km drive takes about 3 hours with breaks.
The cyclists of Helsinki will lead you to the trail. The starting point is Maunula hut, and the trail takes you to Pirkkola, Paloheinä ja Haltiala old forest. The break will be held in the farm nearby.
While cycling, you’ll get familiar with the Ruskeasuo garden summer hut area, Maunula ash tree woods, 53 metres high Central Park crown called Haltiavuori and the protected oak of King which was planted in 17th century by the Swedish King himself.
So, the gettogether is in Maunula hut at the address Metsäläntie 9 on Saturday 20th September at 11 am to 2 pm. Admission is free.
The trail has been build for the Central Parks’ anniversary and the details of it are available both on hel.fi/pyoraily and in keskuspuisto100.fi for introduction.
